Photo Report of Completed Work
In this article, we review the factory sound deadening of the Toyota Land Cruiser 250 Prado and present a photo report of additional soundproofing work using STP materials.
First, we dismantled all interior elements to evaluate the factory insulation. No insulation is present on the roof or doors. Only small vibration-damping patches are applied to the floor and luggage compartment, covering approximately 20% of the surface area.
Roof Sound Proofing
The roof is one of the key parts of the vehicle body structure, with a large surface area through which wind and external noise can enter the cabin.
For the roof, we use a lightweight and highly effective 2.3 mm STP vibration damping material, which significantly reduces noise and vibration. The second layer is STP Biplast Premium, a porous sound absorber designed to reduce mid- and high-frequency noise.
Roof Sound Proofing

Advantages of roof soundproofing:

  • Reduction of aerodynamic noise
  • Reduction of rain and weather noise
  • Improved thermal insulation properties
Floor Sound Proofing

Advantages of floor soundproofing:

  • Reduction of road and aerodynamic noise
  • Reduction of vibration load on the body structure
  • Reduction of noise from snow, gravel, sand, and other road surfaces
  • Improved thermal insulation properties

Boot Sound Proof

Procedure for trunk soundproofing:

  • Dismantling the trunk trim
  • Removing factory vibration-damping material and adhesive residue
  • Degreasing the surface
  • Applying soundproofing materials with careful rolling

Boot Sound Proof

We apply STP Gold and STP Bromo materials as part of the insulation process. On top, we install STP Bromo sandwich material, combining sound absorption and sound insulation.

It is also important to treat the rear wheel arches, as sound waves can resonate and amplify inside the cavities, reflecting off the body panels. STP Bromo and STP Biplast Premium help reduce these noise effects.

Doors Sound Proof

Procedure for soundproofing car doors

  • Remove the inner door trim
  • Remove the factory vibration isolator
  • Clean and degrease all internal surfaces
  • Apply materials in 3 layers
  • Roll them carefully with a roller
  • Assemble everything in reverse order

Boot Lid Sound Proof

We install STP Biplast sound absorber on the plastic trim panel. The surface is degreased beforehand, and the material is applied without excessive stretching.
