Before placing the vehicle on the lift, the wheel arches and liners are cleaned using a high-pressure washer with detergents. After they have completely dried, we lift the vehicle and remove all the wheels.

When comprehensive car soundproofing work is carried out, the wheel arches are treated externally, as well as from the interior side when materials are applied in the luggage compartment. This solution is aimed at significantly reducing the overall noise level in the cabin.
External wheel arch soundproofing is carried out in several stages, starting with surface preparation (removing the plastic wheel arch liners, cleaning off dirt, degreasing) and ending with the application of vibration- and sound-absorbing materials.
Unlike internal soundproofing, external soundproofing involves treating all four wheel arches and plastic liners. Comprehensive soundproofing of the space under the rear and front fenders makes it possible to neutralise up to 80% of irritating noise and vibrations that cause driver and passenger fatigue.
It should be noted that strict requirements are imposed on the materials used for external soundproofing. They must have properties such as high adhesion, durability, the ability to retain their characteristics under exposure to moisture across a wide temperature range, and also protect the metal surfaces of the wheel arches from corrosion. As additional protection against rust, a special compound can be applied by spraying at our “Laboratory of Silence” service centre. This “anti-corrosion” treatment is strongly recommended for vehicles that are not equipped with plastic liners. The compound protects cavities from moisture, sand, the negative effects of the environment and chemical reagents.
Wheel arch soundproofing, like the soundproofing of other elements, is carried out using two types of materials: a vibration-insulating material that suppresses low-frequency hum and vibrations, and a sound-absorbing material that neutralises the remaining frequency range. However, some materials combine the functions of absorbing and reflecting sound waves from 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz (for example, Aerocell QP by StP) and can be applied in a single layer.

We remove the liners after first undoing the fasteners. If the wheel arch liners are connected with clips, we use new fasteners during reassembly.
We remove the remaining dirt from the metal surfaces of the wheel arches and the layer of factory vibration damper. To ensure maximum adhesion of the vibration-insulating material, all surfaces are thoroughly degreased.
The optimal soundproofing kit is selected for each vehicle. As the first layer, we roll on a vibration damper with a special roller; as a rule, it consists of a polymer mastic layer and dense foil. In some cases, a multilayer vibration-insulating material with double foil lamination may be applied after being preheated in an oven to +80°C.
If factory wheel arch liners are absent, before installing the first layer we apply a special compound that provides corrosion protection and has good anti-gravel properties. In addition, it can also be sprayed over the installed soundproofing.
We remove the factory soundproofing from the liners because during vehicle operation it deteriorates — harsh conditions cause it to harden, crack and peel away.
After removing the factory vibration insulator, we degrease the liners for subsequent installation of the additional kit.
Next, we roll foil-faced vibration insulation onto the inner surfaces of the liners so that it does not interfere with subsequent reassembly.
We then glue membrane sound insulation on top and reinstall the wheel arch liners in reverse order.
In order to get rid of irritating noise penetrating through the wheel arches, it is necessary to use high-quality modern materials. Our centre has a laboratory where research is regularly conducted into the effectiveness of various materials from different manufacturers (for example, Comfortmat or StP Aerocell). High-precision experimental equipment makes it possible to select optimal soundproofing kits. And, of course, the recommended insulation kits are selected according to the car owner’s preference.
The problem of irritating noise inside the cabin is permanently solved by soundproofing the external or internal part of the wheel arches and wheel arch liners. This procedure will reduce aerodynamic noise, vibration load, and provide up to 80% reduction of noise from roads and tyres, wind, sandblasting, water and snow.
